About Bastion Home
Welcome to Bastion Home.
My journey into the world of design started slightly unconventionally—as a textile screen printer, hand-printing t-shirts straight out of school. This led to working with automated machines at T&Ski, where I discovered the versatility of various textiles, including wool. After two years bartending on Great Keppel Island off the coast of Australia, my love of cocktails was born! This inspired The Bastion Bar collection, featuring barware and cocktail essentials.
However my passion for interiors proved stronger and it drew me back home to study.
Since graduating from Design and Arts College in 2001, I’ve woven my way through various facets of the design and retail industries. I returned to Australia, where I became Co-Principal of Sigley-Russell Design in Sydney, our first interior design practice. During this time, I fell head over heels for French antiques while working as a sales consultant with Imagine This. I also embraced the laid-back Hamptons style while serving as Manager and assistant buyer at The General Trading Company in Double Bay. I feel privileged to have been surrounded by remarkable women who became my mentors and shaped my understanding of retail interiors.
2009 saw me return again to Christchurch. Though the earthquakes presented an unexpected turning point, they led me to establish Tania Rogers Design in 2011. For the past 13 years I’ve had the privilege of guiding homeowners through the daunting process of selecting finishes for their architectural new builds and renovations. It’s been my pleasure to supply blinds, drapes, furniture and styling assistance, forming enduring relationships with clients who continue to trust me with their design projects.
Bastion Home is the culmination of this 23-year journey. The name was decided in 2001, though I didn’t yet know what shape ‘Bastion’ would take. By 2015, the logo was designed, but everything would align nearly a decade later.
Finally here, Hamptons charm meets timeless pieces and eclectic finds, creating a space where luxury feels both approachable and inspiring. I’ve carefully selected pieces that each tell their own story while helping you write yours.
